Chad Timney - Owner & Operator

Founder & CEO | The Ranch TX


Chad Timney is the Founder and CEO of The Ranch TX, a premier tactical training facility and content production venue dedicated to enhancing survivability and operational readiness for military, law enforcement, government agencies, and private sector clients.


With over 20 years of experience in firearms instruction, executive protection, and facility development, Chad has built The Ranch TX into a national leader in scenario-based training and immersive mission prep. He is a certified Level 4 Personal Protection Officer in the State of Texas, NRA-certified firearms instructor, and veteran competitive shooter with elite brand partnerships.


Chad has developed accredited law enforcement programs, custom training for ICAC, SWAT, and EP teams, and high-risk readiness courses spanning CQB, SUT, K9, mobility, trauma care, and fireground response.


Beyond training, Chad is the visionary behind 

The Ranch Media, a cutting-edge content production division that provides brands with authentic, high-impact tactical content. Under his leadership, The Ranch TX has become a sought-after venue for film productions, brand collaborations, and industry-leading training programs.


Chad’s relentless dedication to performance and innovation ensures that The Ranch TX remains the gold standard for tactical training and content creation.

Ross Botson

President of Government Operations & Program Management

SDVOSB


Ross Botson is a seasoned leader with over 25 years of combined experience in Special Operations, Program Management, and Business Development. With 14 years of distinguished service in U.S. Special Operations, he led high-performing teams through complex missions in dynamic and high-risk environments, honing a deep understanding of strategic operations, leadership, and resilience.


Following his military service, Ross transitioned into the defense and government contracting sector, where for the past 11 years he has successfully managed and developed large-scale federal programs. He has overseen the execution of multiple high-value government contracts, directing cross-functional teams, driving operational efficiency, and ensuring program excellence from concept through completion.


Currently, Ross serves as the President of Government Operations & Program Management, where he leads strategic growth initiatives, partnerships, and client engagement. In this role, he leverages extensive experience to align business strategy with mission-focused solutions, delivering measurable value to both government and private sector clients.


With a reputation for operational precision, innovative thinking, and mission-driven leadership, Ross continues to be a trusted partner in advancing national security and enterprise growth at The Ranch.

Kim Kelley

CMO & Director of Anti-Trafficking Programs | Co-Founder, The Ranch Media

 

Kim Kelley is a dynamic strategist, survivor advocate, and executive leader with over 20 years of experience in marketing, consulting, and business development. As Chief Marketing Officer and Director of Anti-Trafficking Programs at The Ranch TX, she leads national awareness campaigns, digital strategy, and training initiatives that strengthen law enforcement capabilities and combat exploitation across the country.


Kim is also Co-Founder of The Ranch Media, a full-service, in-house production team that captures the purpose, grit, and elite standards of The Ranch’s real-world training programs through high-impact storytelling and brand development. Her work connects tactical professionals, private security teams, first responders, and civilian protectors to immersive training content that inspires action and drives engagement.


A survivor-turned-strategist, Kim leads The Ranch’s anti-trafficking strategy, delivering trauma-informed training solutions and working closely with agencies and survivor-led organizations to disrupt child exploitation and advance interdiction efforts.


Known for her operational grit, visionary thinking, and relentless pursuit of impact, Kim ensures that every initiative reflects the mission, professionalism, and readiness that define The Ranch TX.

Kirk Scheel

Co-Director of Vehicle Mobility, Tactical Medicine, & SAR Operations


Kirk Scheel brings decades of real-world experience to The Ranch TX, with a deep background in military leadership, firefighting, tactical medicine, and specialized rescue operations.


Kirk served 12 years in the Texas and Mississippi Army National Guard, achieving the rank of Captain and commanding a Mechanized Infantry Company. Following his military service, he dedicated 21 years to the Kerrville Fire Department, retiring in 2016 as a seasoned firefighter and Licensed Paramedic.


Throughout his career, Kirk earned numerous advanced certifications, including:

  • Master Firefighter
  • Public Safety Diver
  • Tactical Medic
  • High Angle Rope Rescue Technician
  • Swift Water Rescue Technician
  • Wilderness EMT (Wilderness Medicine Association)
     

Kirk also served as the Senior Tactical Medic for the Kerrville Police Department’s Special Operations Unit, integrating medical expertise into high-threat law enforcement operations.


In the private sector, Kirk was a Senior Instructor at ITI Texas in Pearsall, delivering tactical, medical, and mobility training under multiple managing companies including G4S and Academi. In 2016, he deployed with ITI’s international training team to Bogotá, Colombia, where he instructed U.S. Embassy staff in advanced driving techniques and threat response.


Kirk has had a Level IV (PPO) Security Certification and brings a rare blend of tactical readiness, emergency medical expertise, and instructional experience to every class he leads.


When he’s not training or leading, you might catch him tearing it up on the bagpipes.

Monty Johnson (Mojo)

Co-Director of Vehicle Mobility, Tactical Medicine, & Fire/Specialized Rescue Operations

 

Monty Johnson brings decades of real-world experience to The Ranch TX, with a deep background in military leadership, firefighting, tactical medicine, specialized rescue operations, and SWAT operations.


Mojo has served with the City of Kerrville Fire Department for almost 28 years and is currently a Lieutenant/Paramedic with Station 3, C Shift on Engine Company 3. During his tenure, he has served in every specialized team the department has operated, including the former Water Operations Team (Dive/Swiftwater), where he holds an Advanced Swiftwater Technician certification, the former Chlorine HazMat Team, the KFD Honor Guard, and the Technical Rescue Team (TRT). He chaired the Field Training Officer (FTO) Task Force, leading the department’s in-house academy, and serves on the Active Threat Task Force. Monty also served on the former Special Operations Unit as a Tactical Medic and currently serves as the Tac Med Team Leader for the Hill Country Regional SWAT Team.


Throughout his career, he has earned numerous advanced certifications, including:

  • Advanced Firefighter
  • Public Safety Dive Tender
  • Advanced Swiftwater Technician
  • Fire Officer II
  • Fire Instructor II
  • Technical Rope Rescue Technician
  • Confined Space Rescue
  • TEMS Tactical Paramedic
     

In the private sector, Mojo was a Senior Instructor at ITI Texas (International Training, Inc.) in Dilley, delivering tactical medicine, mobility, and combatives/defensive tactics training under multiple managing companies, including Wackenhut, G4S, Constellis, and Academi. Since 2018, he has also served as an Adjunct Instructor with the ALERRT program at Texas State University, teaching Active Attack Integrated Response (AAIR), First Responder Medical (FRM), and Exterior Response to Active Shooter Events (ERASE).


Monty was raised in a military family—his father served in both the Army and Marine Corps—which shaped his lifelong passion for tactical operations. A dedicated martial artist, Monty has taught in multiple disciplines and was a SPEAR/PDR instructor through Blauer Tactical.


When he’s not dragging hose, bandaging wounds, shooting, or driving fast, Mojo enjoys spending time on horseback, playing golf, and being with his four grown kids and beautiful granddaughter, Brenleigh.

Matt McGuire

Commercial Training Advisor


Matt is a United States Marine Corps veteran. Prior to the Marine Corps Matt worked for 2 years as a Martial Arts instructor for a school aged martial arts program and as a student, training in Muay Thai, Boxing, Kali Escrima and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Matt started shooting competitively in 2011 and through 2013 competed in USPSA, IDPA and 3 Gun.


He has over 1300 hours of professional training from some of the most highly regarded instructors in the industry including Mike Pannone, Aaron Cowan, Scott Jedlinski (as a student, RSO/AI and Assistant Instructor), Bill Blowers, Jared Reston, Kerry Davis, Steve Fischer, Rob and Matt Haught, Riley Bowman, Ridgeline Defense, Keith Garcia, Tim Herron, Hunter Freeland, as well as Mike Green and many others. Matt is also a Modern Samurai Project endorsed Red Dot Pistol Instructor, a Range Master Certified instructor through Tom Givens and has taught with Green Ops since 2020.

From 2018 to 2020 Matt worked as the customer service representative, Quality Control and a sales representative for Sons of Liberty Gun Works. Matt is also a certified AR-15 Armorer.

Matt's focus is on the performance use of firearms in defensive roles helping new and experienced shooters alike develop strong mindsets, efficient technique, enhanced self-awareness and confidence.
